The Faculty of Education is an academic community that places emphasis on individuals and their values. Inspired by the principles and teachings of the Catholic Church, it seeks to contribute to the following goals:
• The development of educational knowledge and the search for answers to a diversity of educational problems in a national and international perspective and context.
• The on-going training of professionals in education, at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels so that they may be prepared to participate in a creative, autonomous, critical, and decisive way in the educational system, with the necessary competencies to innovate, conduct, and produce knowledge. At the same time, it prepares graduate students to develop and lead research projects and innovations that may contribute to the growth and enrichment of educational knowledge.
• Contribution to the national educational debate with a sense of autonomy, service, solidarity, and equity.
Within this context, the Faculty of Education welcomes Chilean as well as international students, at the undergraduate (training in preschool, elementary, and secondary education) and graduate levels (Master’s and Ph.D.)

Through its extension programs, the Faculty of Education aims at the improvement of the national educational system through on-going training of in-service teachers and through consulting services for institutional development, as well as participation in cooperative projects with the Chilean Ministry of Education and exchange programs with Latin American and European universities.
